The color of denim jeans is quite special because it's so familiar as to be cozy, yet still way more interesting than most "neutrals." No one ever argues that your shirt color clashes with blue jeans because the jeans are just a part of the American uniform, which makes it a neutral without being colorless. And considering the way jeans act on the look of the human body, it makes sense to use them in our homes, too, as in rugs made from actual denim pants.
āRevival Rugs has unveiled The Denim Collection, a group of floor rugs made from recycled cotton denim. The raw material is the excess from the garment industry, already dyed indigo and often post-manufactured jeans. A 5'x8' rug contains 10 to 12 pairs of blue jeans, deconstructed and turned into yarn, then woven into rugs. The rugs are separated by brand and type, so you can select a Levi Strauss rug or a Wrangler rug, Bootcut or Stonewash rugs, or even a Dungaree rug with no indigo. And they are machine washable! Check out the collection here. A rug made of jeans will add a hint of pleasant color to your floor and you'll have a hand in keeping those jeans out of the landfill. -via Nag on the Lake ā
