Historic Home is Bigger on the Inside

This single family home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's neither a mansion nor a teardown, but it's on the market for $2,280,000. What justifies such a price? For one thing, it's in Bellevue, Washington, and if you arrange Zillow listings in that town from high to low, this house is not even on the first page. For another thing, the exterior, while nice, does not give a clue to what's inside. It's like a TARDIS, and appears much roomier than the stats would indicate.

But the real reason this home is "historic" is because it was once owned by Jeff Bezos, long before he became a billionaire. In the attached "humble garage" of this property, Bezos built a website called Amazon. He upgraded from this address long ago, and the interior was updated in 2001, so it's no museum, just a 1,540 square foot single family residence in a nice but crowded neighborhood.

So where does Bezos live now? Anywhere he wants. He owns multiple properties in Miami, New York City, Beverley Hills, Hawaii, and Seattle. Oh yeah, and also a ranch in Texas and a museum in the District of Columbia. But who knows? Maybe lightning will strike twice in the same garage. -via Zillow Gone Wild ā€‹
