Some 30 years ago, this house in Santa Barbara, California, was just an ordinary one owned by Peter Cohen. But upon encountering Bob Walker's book titled The Cats' House, which featured Walker's house transformed into a fantasyland for cats, Cohen, a general contractor, decided to do the same. That day, he began turning his home into the House of Nekko. Today, the House of Nekko still stands and is home to 24 cats.
Over the years, Cohen learned many things to remember as he "catified" the House of Nekko, like catwalks should have two ways in and out, and humans should have access to all things in the house for cleaning purposes.
Aside from House of Nekko, Cohen also has a non-profit organization called Zen By Cat, working to adopt and provide shelter to cats.
