How to Deal with Water Stains on Wood Furniture

If your home has wooden furniture and people living in it, you'll eventually have to deal with water stains. If course, you provide coasters to protect that wood from condensation and/or spills, but that's not a perfect plan. I's better to learn something about water stains before you need to know.

Water stains vary due to the amount of water, the time it has spent soaking in, and what the furniture is made of. The water may just affect the wax on top of the wood. Or it may have settled into the varnish or lacquer finish. Or it may have seeped down into the wood fibers. Each of these scenarios has a different solution, so you need to know which problem you are dealing with. After that, the fix may be as simple as running an iron over it, or as complex as removing the finish and sanding the wood.
