Potential Buyers Want Proof Apartment Isn't Haunted

No one wanted to buy an apartment for sale in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, because it was thought to be haunted. A court ordered that a man be hired to stay there for 24 hours and livestream his experience, in order to prove to potential buyers that nothing bad will happen to them. And nothing happened, while 40,000 people watched the man go about his business, eating, sleeping, and exercising in the apartment. Afterward, the apartment went up for auction, with an asking price of 1.2 million yuan (US$187,319), which is only two-thirds the cost of similar properties in the area. Still, no one placed a bid! ā€‹

The last owner of the apartment fell into deep debt from gambling. He committed suicide, which convinced others that he was probably still hanging around. Authorities said they will try again to auction off the apartment to pay those debts. -via Boing Boing
