Earlier this year, a family home in Santa Clarita, California, was transformed into a life-size pink Barbie toy for the HGTV series Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge. Now that the show is over, the house is on the market. But you might be surprised to see that it doesn't look the same as it did on TV. The pink and turquoise trim is gone, the flamingos are gone, the handle on the roof is gone, and so is the purple pet elevator inside. Even the pink staircase has been painted over in black. The kitchen appliances are a normal almond color, the the decor is mostly modern farmhouse black and white.
It was always planned to be this way. The producers of the TV show knew the market for a candy pink house would be limited, so the Barbie renovation was de-renovated as soon as filming for the show was done. However, the house still has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a pool, so it might be worth the $2 million asking price. You'll always have the knowledge that your home is famous, but will the occasional fan showing up at your door and the possibility of pink bleeding through be worth it?
