The Brook is a Tinyhouse with Innovative Features that Make it Feel Big

Designer Nick Lane and home builder Aaron Shields founded the company Small Not Tiny in Victoria, Australia, to produce houses in which you can live large on a small footprint. Their first prototype house is called The Brook. This two-story home sits on 27 square meters (291 square feet) but feels much larger. Every detail of how a house works has been engineered to reserve space for residents to move around.

The second story has an office space sitting in front of the bedroom, giving a sense of privacy. The doors all slide, saving floor space, which results in quirks like exposing your kitchen pantry when the bathroom door is closed. The wall panels crank open and shut for sun exposure, the ladder to the second story cranks out of the way, and the roof even cranks down for transportation to the home's site! Imaginative places for storage also maximize living space.
