The Island That Inspired Agatha Christie is On the Market

If you are an Agatha Christie fan and have $19 million, have I got a deal for you! Burgh Island, off the coast of Devon in the UK, is for sale, along with its historic luxury hotel. Author Agatha Christie considered the island her second home, and a beach house was constructed at the hotel just for her. It was there Christie was inspired to write two island-themed mysteries: And Then There Were None and Evil Under the Sun. She possibly came up with other stories while staying at Burgh Island.

The 25-bedroom Art Deco hotel has been popular with other celebrities as well, like the Beatles, Noël Coward, and Edward VIII and his wife Wallis Simpson. A 14th-century inn is also included in the sale. The island has a helipad, but it is also accessible by foot at low tide, or boat at high tide.
