The Ultimate Retro-Futuristic House is for Sale

George Jetson would feel right at home in this house for sale in Sarasota, Florida! You might feel as if you're in a movie set, or possibly in a time machine set to 1960. Look at those bright colors! Those round walls and counters! So many retro details! Yeah, it's both mid-century and modern.

The house was built in 1971 to conform to an esthetic of ten to 15 years earlier. That's because it was inspired by the architecture of the nearby Hilton Leech Art Studio, also known as the Round House, which was designed in 1960. Yet despite the look, this round house sports some pretty modern upgrades, such as a tankless water heater, programmable lights, and updated wiring and plumbing. It also has the coolest retro features like a pull-out cooking range and a breeze block for the walkway.

The round house has rooms designed like the spokes of a wheel, with a mostly open floor plan outside of the three bedrooms. The center of the wheel is the bathroom, which comes complete with an open shower and a kidney-bean sink counter. Tiled all around, of course. Style aside, it's perfect for sheltering through a hurricane.

The house is priced at $899,000, which is a little steep for a house with only one bathroom, but if you're the 1960s type, you can deal with it. I just wonder if the furniture and accessories will be included in the sale, as they would not be easy to replace.
