What To Do When Your House Plants Get Too Cold

One winter, my husband decided it would be a good idea to block off the "solarium," actually the mud room that used to be the back porch, in order to save on heat. We hung a curtain over the opening, and the next day all my plants looked dead. I managed to save most of them, but the recovery period was long, and since I didn't have enough sunny windows elsewhere, the curtain came down.
