Would an Astiankuivauskaappi Fit in Your Kitchen?

I recall reading a comment somewhere a long time ago that said people in Finland put their dishes away wet, and think it's normal. I don't know why that stayed with me, but much later I found out that it is quite normal because Finnish kitchens have an astiankuivauskaappi, a cabinet directly over the sink made to separate dishes and drain them directly into the sink. I suppose someone who didn't know that would find it odd.

For people who have few dishes, the cabinet is the only one you need to store them as well as to dry them. There's likely no future for drying cabinets in American single family homes, since dishwashers are common and windows over the sink are standard. But for small apartments with little counter space and no dishwasher, whether new or retrofitted, this is a great idea. -via a conversation at redditā€‹
