The Story of a House, a Family, and HistoryThis house in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston has quite a history, as related by Anne Magee Coughlin. It was home to four generations of her family, over a period of more than one hundred years. In that time, history was made, the city changed, and many family members were born and then died. The house itself is just a structure, but it endured as a connection between generations, a cupboard of memories, a place to feel safe, and a reflection of the people who called it home. You don't have to know the family to understand their ups and downs, and why this house, as personal as it is, is worthy of a tribute. Warning: you might need a hankie for parts of this story. #house #history #family #Boston
Brody, an 11-Year-Old Boy From Tennessee, is Credited With Rescuing his Family From a FireOne of the most important and practical life lessons that Kimberly Sims and her husband have imparted to their children is about emergency and disaster response. On December 5, 2021, this lesson was proven to be very useful. A fire that started from their kitchen damaged their entire home. It was a devastating moment for the entire family, especially because they were not able to salvage a lot of things from the home. Despite this unfortunate event, the Sims are thankful that everyone in their family made it out safely. They are especially thankful for the quick thinking of their 11-year-old child.  The children were left alone when Kimberly went to walk their dogs for a few minutes. Eleven-year-old Brody was in charge of watching his four siblings. When he heard his sisters scream "fire", he held his sibling and ushered the others outside while his other sister called 911. After this incident, Kimberly believes that while they may have lost everything, they still have all that mattered because they have their family intact.#Fire #Disaster #Emergency #Family Image credit: News Channel 5
Would You Buy A $500,000 Oven?Ovens are essential tools especially for those who love to create tasty food in the kitchen. Most of us are satisfied with simple ovens, which cost about $2000 on average. And then there are ovens made by brands like La Cornue, Bertazzoni, Viking, and Thermador, that sell ovens to the extremely rich, with their ovens having prices over $500,000. The question is, why spend that amount of money when you can buy a house with it? For Antoine Bassoul, president of La Cornue, buying their oven is like buying a luxury car.“You can get from point A to point B in a Honda, so why should you drive a Mercedes? Yes, it’s more comfortable with higher horsepower, but with a kitchen range, there’s an intangible element. People see the kitchen as the heart of the home, and, in a sense, the range can become a part of your family.”Of course, the ovens aren’t priced that high for no reason; they are made with premium and durable materials, and can be customized, too. Bassoul considers their ovens to be family heirlooms, as they could last for over 50 years and could be passed on to the next generation.Valentina Bertazzoni, the style and brand director of Bertazzoni, on the other hand, reasons that aside from the performance, big spenders want the items inside their home to match their interior taste. But what do you think? Are these ovens really worth the price?#Oven #Luxury #Family #Kitchen(Image Credit:Nathan Kirkman/ La Cornue)
