The covid-19 pandemic meant that office workers were sent home to do their jobs remotely. Schools were closed, so kids were home all the time, too. People set up exercise equipment because they couldn't go to the gym. How does all that work in your open-plan great room? You need an office that looks okay in a Zoom meeting. Then if someone got sick, they needed to be isolated. How can you get some downtime with all that going on? Well, if you are working remotely, you can live anywhere, so many people just up and relocated to a more affordable place where they could spread out a little more.

It will take years to see a real shift in how new homes are built, but migration and renovations have been happening for a couple of years now.
