Home Decor of the 1970sTo make you feel a bit better about your own untrendy preferences, let's go back to see what was not only trendy but ubiquitous in the 1970s. It was a dismal time for home decor, full of earth tones and handicrafts that will make you laugh today, even as it takes you back to your parents' home... or maybe Grandma's. As a child of the '70s, I can assure you that it was ugly even at the time, but since everyone's home looked the same, it didn't matter much. We pretended it was natural and "earth-friendly" as we learned to make macrame wall hangings in art class and spilled cigarette ashes on the shag carpet.#decor #retro #vintage #1970s
Two Designers Transforms The Billy IKEA Bookcase into Two Very Different Pieces of FurnitureAll it needs is just a little bit of DIY, right? The IKEA Billy bookcase is a popular choice for storage for its minimalistic look and feel. I mean, the item, which is priced at $49.99,  hosts 6 wide shelves for storage which is amazing. In addition, its streamlined aesthetic can adapt to any type of decor scheme cooking in your home. On the other hand, its simple look and feel leave it open for DIY upgrades to spice it up a little bit. Architectural Digest invited DIY YouTuber Drew Scott and furniture designer Leonard Bessemer to transform the Billy bookcase into something different. Each had their own take on upgrading the bookcase. Scott focused on attaching wooden details to the shelf itself while Bessemer cut some parts of the bookcase to give it a new look. I have never slept better in my life; it was like being back in the wombSpend a night in any spare bedrooms you have to make sure they’re comfortable for visitorsA room needs time to settle into itself and it often looks better a few weeks after it’s been finished, so don’t pass judgement on your efforts too soonYou can see in just those tidbits that she values flexibility. A Dino-mite Dinosaur Themed Kids BedroomCreating a fierce and fun themed kids room can be a mammoth task. Whoever Bellway Homes hired to decorate this dinosaur themed kids room, however, is truly dino-mite at their craft. They managed to keep the decor fun, but not overly complicated.I think that many would agree that the main focus of this beautiful room is this incredible dinosaur bed. While, the paint job is attractive, your eyes can't help but be drawn to the bed. The wrong type of bed frame in a room can be a real eye-saur and can make your home look dated and pre-historic, this one does not. This monster of a bed, with it's perfectly crafted toothy grin, captures the dinosaur theme. Moreover, the bed appears to be very practical for children as it seems to be made out of a softer plushy material.  #bed #bedframe #dinosaur #kidsroom #decor
