Michael Hilgers is a Berlin-based architect with a background in cabinetmaking, design, and invention. His designs are usually innovative, with a minimalist aesthetic. Hilgers has reimagined classic product categories using a sensible approach for today's living and working.
As part of his NIVO collection and with the help of the manufacturing company CASALA, he has introduced the HOKU side table. Three tables are included in the series, each of which is different in size but has the same folded steel tabletop and function. The bending table surface acts as a multifunctional side table and is inspired by a wave. It acts as a functional second level, space-saving furniture, and a magazine/newspaper rack, in addition to being aesthetically pleasing.
The side table is entirely constructed of steel with a matte structural powder coating, while the coffee table has solid oak legs and is available in two sizes.
