The Danger of Skyrocketing Home Prices: A Torn-up ContractIn this crazy housing market, people are running into the problems of the price surge outpacing savings. By the time you save enough for a down payment on a house, the house price, and therefore the down payment, have doubled. Time can work against you in other ways, too. Atlanta school teacher Hanna James contracted to have a house built, for $295,000, in February of 2021. She watched the house being built, and it was finally ready to close in January of 2022. But when that time approached, the contractor backed out, because the company would make more money selling the house to someone else now! James' house is on the market for $370,000, which James cannot afford. Casa Figueira Casa Figueira, or House of Figueira, is a structural wonder created by the architectural firm of Stemmer Rodrigues. The house takes its name from the giant tree present at the site. Figueira is Portuguese for fig tree. This sleek and modern concrete and wood home beautifully embraces and honors the environment. The house was specifically constructed with the bottom floor positioned more toward one side to avoid damaging the massive root structure of the old growth tree. This causes a vast majority of the sleek second floor to seemingly float above the ground. A boulder like structure gently provides the necessary support and visual anchor underneath that floating second floor. The massive boulder is part of the house, but seems almost part of the natural landscape. Casa Figueira is a beautiful example of the marriage of modern style and nature. The house is situated on the plot in a way that maximizes canal views and honors an old tree. More than that, however, the careful design provides for energy efficiency. The specific design and placement of the building allows the harsher south wind to be repelled and the more mild north wind to be channeled inside the home. The house is a gorgeous reminder that modern style homes can still blend magnificently with their environment. #casa #fig #figueria #home #canal #house #modern

Then if someone got sick, they needed to be isolated. How can you get some downtime with all that going on? Well, if you are working remotely, you can live anywhere, so many people just up and relocated to a more affordable place where they could spread out a little more.

Writer's Homes You Can Visit for InspirationOne's surroundings can open the mind for creativity. A writer's home doesn't have to be sumptuous, but to produce classic literature, a writer must be comfortable enough to contemplate and craft stories. Of course, some writers start out poor and with success work their way up to owning a grand mansion, while others are born into wealth, education, and time of one's own. An author who achieves worldwide notoriety may eventually have a museum in their honor, often at the home they lived in. The grand house above was where Vladimir Nabokov lived in Siverskaya, Russia. Below, you'll see the famous boathouse Dylan Thomas occupied in Laugharne, Wales. While not quite as grand, it was inspirational. He wrote poetry in the garage he turned into a studio.
Tu Hwnt i'r Bont Tearoom in North Wales is Housed in a Charming Cottage Covered in LeavesThe Tu Hwnt i'r Bront Tearoom in the county of Conwy, North Wales was constructed in 1480. The structure sits near the bank of a river and is actually older than the little bridge that leads to the property. Originally, this lovely little tearoom was intended to be a residential home. Over time, however, the structure has served numerous purposes. At one point the dwelling even functioned as a small local court house.Today the beautiful little building serves up comfort, food, and plenty of  architectural inspiration. The gorgeous building is said to be covered in a plant known as Virginia Creeper. This type of vining ivy climbs with the use of tendrils that fasten the plant to things around them. The vine even has the unusual ability to almost cement itself to walls without support. The shear abundance of the gorgeous Virginia Creeper on the Tu Hwnt i'r Bront Tearoom gives the magical impression that the building itself is alive. In fact, the house changes color depending on the seasons. In the summer the hairy structure is awash in vibrant greens. In the fall, however, those greens change  to bold and brash reds.       #TuHwntirBrontTearoom #tearoom #virginiacreeper #ivy #climinbingplants #cottage #home #plantsImage: Tu Hwnt i'r Bont Tearoom
